Speaker Martin Romualdez has clinched a third consecutive term as Leyte’s First District Representative in the 2025 midterm elections.
Romualdez, a cousin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., ran unopposed and was officially proclaimed winner by the Provincial Board of Canvassers, headed by lawyer Ma. Goretti Caseñas-Cañas, on Tuesday, May 13.
This victory marks Romualdez’s sixth overall term in the House of Representatives.
“I am deeply grateful to my constituents, especially Tacloban, for giving me another opportunity to serve,” Romualdez stated. “This win is not just mine—it belongs to the entire district. I assure you, your trust will not be wasted.”
Leyte’s First District includes Tacloban City and the municipalities of Palo, Alangalang, Babatngon, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Tanauan, and Tolosa.
