Authorities have identified suspects involved in the abduction and murder of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que (also known as Anson Tan) and his driver Armanie Pabillo, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.
In a 24 Oras report by Mark Salazar, Marbil confirmed that the Bureau of Immigration has been alerted to prevent the suspects from fleeing the country. While arrests could be made soon, he emphasized that the priority is capturing the mastermind behind the crime.
“The case goes beyond kidnap-for-ransom,” Marbil said, hinting at a significant development. “There’s a big twist to this story—that’s all I can say for now.”
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla also weighed in on reports that a POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) syndicate may be linked to Que’s death due to alleged unpaid debts. “We’re aware of this angle and have more details, but we must proceed quietly,” he stated.
The bodies of Que and Pabillo were discovered in Rodriguez, Rizal on April 9. Surveillance footage showed the black van they were last seen in was abandoned on Seminary Road in Barangay Toro, Quezon City on March 29 and later reported abandoned on April 8.
The case has sparked heightened concern in the Filipino-Chinese community, with the PNP vowing to provide additional security.
