Beloved Filipino music icon Pilita Corrales, known as Asia’s Queen of Songs, has passed away at the age of 85.

Her granddaughter, actress Janine Gutierrez, announced the news on Facebook, expressing gratitude for Pilita’s lasting impact on people’s lives through her music and her generous spirit.

“She will be remembered not just for her contributions to entertainment but for the love she shared with her family and everyone around her,” Janine wrote, asking for prayers as the family celebrates her life.

No cause of death has been revealed, but Janine mentioned that details about the memorial will be announced soon.

Corrales began her music career in Australia with the hit “Come Closer to Me” and later returned to the Philippines, where she rose to legendary status with iconic songs such as “A Million Thanks to You,” “Kapantay Ay Langit,” “Usahay,” and “Ang Pipit.”

Beyond music, she also made her mark on television and film, starring in shows like Your Evening with Pilita and even appearing in Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers.

Her legacy continues to inspire generations of artists and fans alike.
