Red Sternberg, best known for his role as “Kiko” in the hit 90s youth drama T.G.I.S., has passed away at the age of 50.
His wife, Sandy Sternberg, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Facebook, sharing that Red died unexpectedly on the morning of May 27. In an emotional post, she reflected on how the week, once filled with family birthday celebrations, had turned into a period of mourning.
“To be greeted with ‘happy birthday’ and ‘sorry for your loss’ on the same days—it’s been overwhelming,” she wrote. Red would have turned 51 on May 30. The couple shared three children.
Sandy requested privacy and prayers for their family, and noted that memorial details will be announced soon.
T.G.I.S. director Mark Reyes also paid tribute, posting, “The entire T.G.I.S. Barkada is heartbroken to lose one of our own. Kiko, we love you and we’re giving you a group hug right now.” He tagged several of Red’s former co-stars, including Angelu De Leon, Bobby Andrews, and Rica Peralejo.
