Vice President Sara Duterte has encouraged Filipinos to take an active role in the fight against climate change, emphasizing the importance of collective action to protect the environment.
In a video message marking Earth Day, Duterte highlighted the Philippines’ rich natural resources and the responsibility of its people to preserve them. She echoed this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” and called on the public to join in climate efforts by participating in clean-up drives and starting greening initiatives in their communities.
“This Earth Day is a powerful reminder that together, we can restore and protect our environment. Let’s take action to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and ensure a sustainable future,” she said.
The Vice President also spotlighted the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) contribution to reforestation through its “Pagbabago: A Million Learners and Trees Campaign,” which aims to plant one million trees nationwide by 2028.
“Through unity and commitment, we can create a greener, more resilient Philippines,” Duterte concluded.
