SILANG, Cavite — Commuters traveling through the South are in for a welcome reprieve. The toll for the newly inaugurated subsection of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) has been officially waived until June 5, 2026, offering motorists free access to the latest stretch of the high-speed road network for a full month.

The decision to offer free passage follows the successful opening of the newest interchange, which aims to further decongest local roads and provide a seamless link between the growing industrial hubs of Cavite and Laguna.

The toll-free period applies specifically to the most recently completed segment, allowing drivers to bypass traditional bottlenecks in Silang and neighboring towns. Highway operators noted that the “free trial” is intended to familiarize motorists with the new exits and to test the traffic management systems under real-world conditions before full commercial operations begin.

“This new section is a critical piece of the puzzle for Southern Luzon’s infrastructure,” a representative from the tollway corporation stated. “By waiving the fees until June 5, we want to encourage more drivers to discover how much time they can save on their daily commutes.”

Since its soft opening earlier this week, the new CALAX stretch has already significantly reduced travel time for those heading toward the Tagaytay area and the industrial zones in Governor’s Drive. Local businesses have lauded the expansion, noting that improved accessibility is vital for the region’s economic recovery and tourism.

To ensure safety during the high-volume introductory period, highway patrols have been doubled at key entry and exit points, and motorists are reminded that while the toll is free, standard traffic laws and speed limits remain strictly enforced.

Starting June 6, 2026, the standard toll rates approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) will take effect. Motorists are encouraged to ensure their RFID stickers—such as Easytrip—are active and sufficiently loaded to avoid delays once the promotional period ends.

The completion of this segment brings CALAX one step closer to its final goal: a fully integrated 45-kilometer expressway that will eventually connect the Cavitex in Kawit to the SLEX Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan.
