Several of the Philippines’ rising and established boxing stars are excitedly preparing for the high-profile event “Thrilla in Manila 2,” set for October 29, 2025 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The event, promoted by legendary boxer-turned-promoter Manny Pacquiao, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original “Thrilla in Manila” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier (1975).

Among the Filipino fighters featured on the card:

  • Melvin Jerusalem will defend his WBC minimum-weight world title.
  • Eumir Felix Marcial, an Olympic bronze medalist, sees this as an opportunity to boost his pro career.
  • Carl Jammes Martin and Marlon Tapales are also in action—eager to shine in front of the home crowd.
  • Notably, the card also includes Nico Ali Walsh — the grandson of Muhammad Ali — who says fighting in Manila is “a dream come true.”

Boxers say the event is more than just another fight card—it’s a chance to perform on a big stage at home, draw national support, and accelerate their careers. Pacquiao noted that the occasion provides “a huge help to our boxers” who otherwise struggle to find major promotions.
