A heart-wrenching accident occurred in Naga City when a person with a disability (PWD), who was hard of hearing, was fatally struck by a Philippine National Railway (PNR) train. The incident took place around 5 a.m. in Barangay Concepcion Pequeña, as the train headed from PNR- Naga City station to Ligao City, Albay. The victim, despite the halted traffic for the train, continued walking on the tracks and was tragically hit by the oncoming train.
His wife, Salve Aquino, expressed her confusion and concern about his delayed return home. This unfortunate event marks the third fatal train accident since the resumption of operations last July. Joseline Geronimo, Manager of the PNR Operations Department, conveyed deep concern for the safety of residents near the PNR tracks and announced plans to enhance security and safety measures.
