Francisco Motors Corp. is set to revolutionize the public transport sector in the Philippines with its electric jeepneys priced under P1 million each, a move aimed at making these vehicles accessible to drivers and operators. Elmer Francisco, the owner of Francisco Motors, announced that the first 1,000 units would be priced at P985,000 each. Interested buyers need to register at jeepney.io.

Elmer Francisco highlighted the reduction in production costs, crediting the use of locally made components and Filipino labor. He noted that the electric motors and batteries would greatly benefit the local workforce. The production facility, located in a special economic zone in Camarines Norte, is part of a joint venture with B-Corp or Benefit Corporation TEMBO ELV. The facility, once fully operational, is expected to produce 25,000 units annually. These electric jeepneys, apart from being environmentally friendly, will feature air conditioning, seating for up to 22 passengers, and include ramps for persons with disabilities
