The truck driver responsible for the fatal crash at the Katipunan Avenue-Aurora Boulevard flyover in Quezon City has been apprehended, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
The suspect, who fled the scene after the accident, was arrested early Friday morning during a follow-up operation conducted at around 1:30 a.m.
Fatal Crash Details
The crash, which occurred around 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, resulted in the deaths of four people, with two victims still unidentified. Twenty-six others sustained injuries in the incident.
The suspect’s wing van truck collided with multiple motorcycles and vehicles, damaging 16 motorcycles and five cars.
Cause and Response
Initial investigations suggest that the truck’s brakes malfunctioned, leading to the devastating crash.
“All injured victims were brought to different hospitals for medical treatment,” the QCPD said in a statement.
The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns along major thoroughfares.
