Manny Pacquiao, one of the most celebrated boxers in history and a beloved icon in the Philippines, has been elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The announcement was made on Thursday.
Known for his lightning-fast footwork and blistering punching speed, Pacquiao is the only boxer in history to win world titles in eight weight divisions, ranging from flyweight to super welterweight.
The legendary Filipino southpaw retired in 2021 after an illustrious career spanning 72 fights, with a record of 62 wins, eight losses, and two draws.
Beyond the Ring
Pacquiao’s influence extends far beyond boxing. A former senator and 2022 presidential candidate in the Philippines, he is also known for his work as a philanthropist, lawmaker, and even as a singer.
He made history as the first Filipino athlete to be featured on a postage stamp and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2009.
A Heartfelt Milestone
Expressing his gratitude for the honor, the 45-year-old Pacquiao shared his joy in a statement on the Hall of Fame’s website:
“I am so happy that I have been selected to enter the International Boxing Hall of Fame. This certainly is a wonderful Christmas gift. Throughout my career, as a professional fighter and a public servant, it has been my goal to bring honor to my country, The Philippines, and my fellow Filipinos around the world.”
Congratulations to the “PacMan” for this remarkable achievement!
