The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman has announced a class suspension on February 25, 2025, in observance of the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary.
Class Suspension Covers All Learning Modes
According to a memorandum issued by UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, the suspension applies to all undergraduate and graduate classes, whether conducted face-to-face, synchronous, asynchronous, or through other teaching modes.
The UP Integrated School (UPIS) will still proceed with its scheduled UPIS Fair activities on the same day.
Encouraging Participation in Commemoration Activities
The memo also allows faculty, researchers, and administrative staff to request special work arrangements if they wish to participate in commemorative activities. Unit heads are urged to accommodate such requests, including for contractual employees.
This follows a university-wide directive from UP President Angelo Jimenez on February 19, which encouraged all UP campuses to observe February 25 as an Alternative Learning Day dedicated to honoring the spirit of unity, freedom, and civil liberties.
Other UP campuses, including UP Cebu, have also declared February 25 as a day for commemoration, remembrance, and reflection.
EDSA Anniversary Declared a Special Working Day
Unlike previous years, the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary falls on a special working day in 2025, as it lands on a Tuesday.
