Val Kilmer, the beloved actor known for his iconic role as Batman in “Batman Forever” (1995) and as rock legend Jim Morrison in “The Doors” (1991), has passed away at the age of 65.

According to a report by The New York Times, Kilmer died of pneumonia in Los Angeles, California, as confirmed by his daughter Mercedes Kilmer. He had previously battled throat cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2014, and had reportedly recovered.

Kilmer’s career spanned several decades, with standout performances in cult classics like Top Gun, Heat, Tombstone, and Willow. His final film appearance was in the 2022 blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick,” reprising his role as Iceman.

Fans and celebrities have since poured in tributes honoring his legacy in both dramatic and action cinema.
