Philippine cinema’s beloved comedian Vice Ganda is gearing up for a grand return to the big screen with the new film “And the Breadwinner Is…”, directed by Jun Robles Lana. The announcement was made during a recent episode of “It’s Showtime,” marking a first-time collaboration between the comedian and the acclaimed director.
The film, a joint venture between Star Cinema and Idea First, promises to blend Vice Ganda’s unique comedic style with Lana’s cinematic vision. “Your mother will be mothering again in the cinemas. We are coming back to deliver unbeatable entertainment to society,” Vice Ganda proclaimed during the show.
Director Jun Robles Lana expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “The combination of our styles is going to create something truly special. The story is very personal and important to Vice and equally important to me. I believe many viewers will find it relatable.”
The upcoming movie is set to be a full-blown comedy, exceeding the expectations traditionally held for Vice Ganda’s films. “Expect the fun, the riot of laughter, but we plan to surpass what we’ve previously delivered,” Lana added.
Adding to the star-studded lineup, Jhong Hilario is confirmed to be part of the cast, marking his return to film after a five-year hiatus.
