A vintage bomb, believed to date back to World War II, was uncovered during a road widening project near Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 in Pasay City, according to a Balitanghali report on Thursday.
The bomb, suspected to be American-made, was accidentally unearthed by construction workers along the Manila International Airport Road.
Temporary Halt to Roadworks
Following the discovery, the road widening project was temporarily suspended to ensure safety. Personnel from the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal (PNP-EOD) Unit assessed the scene and confirmed that the bomb remains potentially explosive.
The vintage device will be transferred to the PNP-EOD Unit for further analysis and proper disposal.
This incident underscores the lingering presence of wartime remnants, especially in areas with historical significance.
