Vice President Sara Duterte has returned to the Philippines following a private trip to Japan over the weekend, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed Monday.
During her stay, Duterte met with various groups of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan. Details of her engagements were not disclosed, but the Vice President is already back in Manila as of Monday.
INC Rally Participation Uncertain
The OVP has not yet confirmed Duterte’s attendance at the ongoing National Rally for Peace organized by Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) at Quirino Grandstand in Manila. However, she is expected to release a video statement regarding the rally later in the day.
The INC event aims to show support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s stance against impeachment efforts targeting Vice President Duterte. The President previously stated that such moves would not benefit the country.
Massive INC Participation
As of 10 a.m. Monday, the Manila Police District reported that approximately 1.5 million INC members from nearby provinces, including Cavite, Quezon, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales, had gathered in Manila for the rally.
