Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed she has received a summons from the Office of the Prosecutor in connection with the complaint filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). The case stems from her earlier statement suggesting she had hired someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and others in case of her death.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Sogod, Southern Leyte, Duterte disclosed receiving the summons, a detail later verified by Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon. The preliminary investigation has been scheduled for May 9 and 16.
The complaint, filed in February, includes possible charges of inciting to sedition and grave threats. Duterte previously clarified that her controversial remark was not a threat but an effort to draw attention to a perceived plot against her. She accused critics of twisting her statement “out of logical context.”
