A 37-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a tricycle in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, late in the evening of January 1, 2025.
Incident Details
CCTV footage captured the victim walking along the middle of the road in Barangay Bolingit when an approaching tricycle struck her around 10 p.m. The impact dragged her body approximately 15 meters before the tricycle rolled over her.
The tricycle was being operated by a married couple.
“They tried to avoid her, but she moved toward them,” Barangay Bolingit chairperson Jherwin Lumanlan explained.
Victim Unidentified Locally
San Carlos City Police Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Eleazar Edolmo, noted that the victim was not recognized by the local barangay.
“On the account of the barangay, they really didn’t know her or see her there,” he stated.
The victim’s brother shared his heartbreak over the loss, revealing that she left their home on the afternoon of January 1 but never returned.
“It really hurts because it was my birthday. What happened was that my sister died on January 1,” he said.
Potential Charges
The tricycle driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, pending further investigation.
