Thousands of Filipino Muslims came together at Rizal Park in Manila early Monday to celebrate Eid’l Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that approximately 10,000 worshippers joined the morning festivities, which began around 6:45 a.m.
According to the MPD, the event remained peaceful throughout, with police deployed to ensure the safety and security of those attending.
In Davao City, Muslims also gathered along Roxas Avenue for similar celebrations, highlighting the nationwide observance of the sacred holiday.
Eid’l Fitr, known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, signals the conclusion of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos announced that the celebration would begin on March 31, 2025, following the official sighting of the crescent moon.
To honor the occasion, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared April 1 a national holiday, while the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) observed March 31 as a regional holiday. In his Eid message, Marcos urged Filipinos to live with compassion and extend help to those in need.
