In celebration of Valentine’s Day today, February 14, at least 110 couples in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato exchanged their vows at the Kasalan ng Bayan event held at the Municipal Gymnasium in Barangay Poblacion.
It was facilitated by the Municipal Civil Registrar Office led by its chief, Garcia Alam, LPT, and was also attended by their mayor, Floro Gandam.
The mass civil wedding was conducted with confirmation and validation of Tribal Marriage pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1414, which is a decree protecting the customs, traditions, beliefs and interests of national minorities, Act No. 3753 (Law on Registry of Civil Status), Executive Order No. 209 (Family Code of the Philippines) Article 33, and Republic Act No. 8371 (Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997).
Lake Sebu’s Kasalan ng Bayan forms part of the celebration of the 33rd Civil Registration Month with the theme, “PSA@10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Through Digital Transformation”.
The ceremony was hosted by Sangguniang Bayan Private Secretary I Larry Alon, LPT, and was attended and witnessed by principal sponsors, with the presence of South Cotabato Provincial Statistics Officer Jilmar F. Grecia, and Statistics Specialist II Em Gayosa.
The local government of Lake Sebu also extended its gratitude to Vice Mayor Bing Pabe and Naneth Cabangbang for the flowers, MCR Staff, Information Staff and wedding singers Nelly Ukom and Carmela Yang- Alam.
