A barangay tanod and a resident were shot dead on Tuesday night in Quezon City following an altercation over a videoke session. The incident occurred in Barangay Sauyo after local tanods confronted residents singing karaoke, leading to a heated argument. Gunshots rang out, causing panic as nearby individuals fled.

The two suspects, who fled the scene on a motorcycle, were arrested at a hotel in Barangay Payatas the following night. Authorities recovered guns and ammunition, and the partner of one suspect was also apprehended for aiding their escape.

One of the victims, Cornelio Nuval Jr., a barangay official, was shot in the back, with the bullet penetrating his lung. His daughter expressed grief, describing him as a kind and upstanding man.

The suspects had prior charges of murder and homicide in Regions 1 and 3. Quezon City Police believe the suspects may have been guns-for-hire and could have been involved in illegal activities during the upcoming elections.
