At the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on the international community to intervene and stop the ongoing war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. In his address on Thursday, Abbas stated that Israel had nearly destroyed Gaza, rendering it uninhabitable.
“This madness cannot continue. The entire world is responsible for what is happening to our people,” Abbas told the 193-member assembly, urging global action to end the violence.
