Two women lost their lives after a motor banca sank near Laoang, Northern Samar, on Sunday.
According to a Balitanghali report, the victims, aged 68 and 50, were found floating in the water. They were among eight passengers aboard the vessel, which was en route to Batag Island.
An investigation by the Laoang Police revealed that the Philippine Coast Guard had prohibited the voyage due to rough seas and inclement weather. However, the motor banca proceeded, ultimately succumbing to the large waves.
Fortunately, the remaining six passengers were rescued and are now in safe condition.
