The Department of Health (DOH) reported 33 new road accidents during New Year festivities, bringing the total number of incidents this holiday season to 529.

Data collected from December 22, 2024, to 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025, showed a 31% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these incidents, six fatalities were recorded, four of which were caused by motorcycle accidents.

As the holiday season wraps up, the DOH urged motorists to prioritize safety by wearing helmets while riding motorcycles, using seatbelts in vehicles, and avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol. Drivers are also reminded to observe speed limits, adhere to road signs, and ensure they have 7-8 hours of sleep before traveling.
