Kapuso actor Dustin Yu has opened up about a traumatic incident of sexual harassment he experienced at the hands of a policeman inside an MRT train when he was just 18 years old. Yu first revealed the story in a 2023 interview, and recently revisited the experience amid discussions on sexual abuse involving celebrities.
During his first MRT ride, Yu was holding onto the metal bars when a uniformed policeman allegedly inserted his hand into the actor’s pocket and groped his private parts. “I was shaking because he was a policeman, and I was just a kid,” Yu recalled, describing how the incident left him traumatized for over a year.
Reflecting on the incident at a recent event, Yu expressed solidarity with fellow actor Sandro Muhlach, who is facing a similar situation. Yu acknowledged the difficulty of reacting in such moments, stating, “When you’re in that moment, you just freeze. That’s what happened to me.”
Yu also shared that, if faced with a similar situation again, he would now stand up for himself, having learned from the painful experience.
