MANILA — Religious leader Apollo Quiboloy has been moved back to Pasig City Jail after receiving medical clearance, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Thursday.

Court-Ordered Transfer

BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera stated that Quiboloy was returned to jail at 9:50 p.m. on February 12, 2025 following a court order.

“The court ruled that Quiboloy must remain in BJMP custody unless there is a clear medical need requiring specialized care,” said Atty. Joeie Domingo, a private prosecutor.

The court also noted that the BJMP has adequate medical facilities to address any urgent health concerns.

Medical History & Hospital Stay

  • January 18: Quiboloy was brought to Rizal Medical Center after experiencing breathing difficulties.
  • January 23: Transferred to Pasig City General Hospital (PCGH), where he was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk) and Stage 2 hypertension.
  • February 12: Cleared for transfer back to Pasig City Jail.

Quiboloy Allowed to Record Campaign Videos

Despite being detained, Quiboloy was granted court permission on February 7 to record a campaign video for his senatorial bid while confined in the hospital.

Legal Cases Against Quiboloy

Quiboloy is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Qualified human trafficking (non-bailable) under Republic Act 9208
  • Charges under the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (RA 7610)

With his legal battle ongoing, Quiboloy’s return to jail marks the next phase of his trial.
