MANILA, Philippines — Megawide Construction Corp. has officially solidified its partnership with the Baguio City local government to develop the P1.186-billion Baguio City Integrated Terminal (BCIT) project.

The company, led by tycoon Edgar Saavedra, announced on Thursday, January 22, 2026, that it signed the lease agreement on January 21. This formalizes the award Megawide received from the Office of the City Mayor in October 2025.

Consolidating Luzon Travel Envisioned as Baguio’s counterpart to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the BCIT will be constructed along Marcos Highway. The project aims to consolidate all transport services operating along the primary corridor linking the Summer Capital to the rest of Luzon.

  • Capacity: Once operational, the terminal is projected to handle up to 400 buses and approximately 25,000 commuters daily.
  • Regional Reach: The hub will serve seven major southbound routes, including La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Cavite.

Development Details The P1.19-billion investment covers the full lifecycle of the project, including:

  • Infrastructure: Construction of the intermodal transport hub.
  • Commercial Hub: The development of a mixed-use commercial space within the leased premises to boost local economic activity.
  • Operations: Long-term management of the facility. The lease period is set for up to 40 years from the start of construction.

Timeline Megawide, which also developed and operates the PITX in Metro Manila, initially proposed the Baguio project in 2019. With the lease agreement now signed, the company can proceed with the next phases of development. The BCIT is expected to begin commercial operations in 2027.

The project is seen as a critical solution to Baguio’s chronic traffic congestion by centralizing bus arrivals and departures away from the already-packed city center.
