A 35-year-old man was discovered dead inside a sinkhole in Barangay Sac-on, Carmen, Cebu, early on December 12, 2024.
The sinkhole, estimated to be 20 to 30 feet deep, is located in Purok Mahogany. Authorities identified the deceased as a chainsaw operator and a resident of Barangay Lower Natimao-an in the same town.
Discovery and Retrieval
The Carmen Police Station reported that a councilman from Barangay Lower Natimao-an alerted them about the body. Local police, alongside personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection, conducted the retrieval operation.
Investigation Underway
As of now, authorities have not determined the cause of the man’s death or the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
