Senator-elect Camille Villar expressed her willingness to support a Senate investigation into PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp., the water utility company owned by her family, if it reflects public interest.

“If that’s what the majority of people want, we’ll welcome it,” Villar stated during the proclamation of the 12 winning senators for Eleksyon 2025.

This marks her first public comment on PrimeWater since President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ordered an inquiry into its services following complaints from various provinces.

Villar, joined by her family including former Senate President Manny Villar and outgoing Senator Cynthia Villar, became emotional during her speech, saying her path to the Senate wasn’t easy. She vowed to work harder and lead with integrity and courage.

In a post-proclamation interview, Villar apologized for not acknowledging Vice President Sara Duterte in her speech, crediting both her and President Marcos Jr. for their support during the campaign.

Although she missed many rallies of the administration’s senatorial slate, she received a key endorsement from VP Duterte. Her campaign gained attention following Duterte’s arrest in The Hague over charges of crimes against humanity.

Despite tensions surrounding the probe into PrimeWater, Malacañang denied any political motives behind it.

Camille Villar secured the 7th spot in the Senate race with over 13.6 million votes, joining her brother, Senator Mark Villar, in the upper chamber.
