Speaking during a recent gathering, the Caloocan bishop and president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said he found it ironic that those involved in corruption scandals had previously approached him for guidance and moral counsel.
While he did not name names, Cardinal David shared that these encounters made him reflect on how easily people in power can lose their moral compass. He emphasized that public servants must uphold integrity and humility, especially when entrusted with the people’s money.
The prelate also urged Filipinos to pray for leaders who are tempted by greed and corruption, reminding everyone that genuine change begins with conscience and accountability.
