Six months after Central Visayas rollout its COVID-19 vaccination, it has now breached the two million doses administered as of September 9, 2021, the Visayas Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) reported yesterday.

VVOC spokesperson Mary Jean Loreche said that in her daily briefing said that a total of 2,233,645 doses were already administered wherein 1,280,567 and 953,078 doses were administered in the first and second dose, respectively. 

In Cebu, a total of 1,664,043 doses were admistered wherein 997,652 for the first dose and 666,391 for the second dose.

While the total doses administered in Bohol was 287,029; 224,309 in Negros Oriental; and 58,264 in Siquijor.

In Cebu alone, almost one million doses (997,652) were administered first dose and 666,391 for the second dose. 

In order to further speed up the vaccination rollout in Cebu Province, the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas organized a meeting with Cebu Vaccination Group wherein 

Cebu will be divided into several sectors for a more focused vaccination campaign. 

In the north, Sector 1 is composed of Liloan to Danao City and Camotes Island. The other sectors are Sector 2 (Carmen to Sogod); Sector 3 (Borbon to Bogo City); Sector 4 (Medellin, Daanbantayan and Bantayan Island); Sector 5 (San Remegio to Tuburan); and Sector 6 Balamban and Asturias).

In the south, Sector 1 comprise of City of Naga to Carcar City; Sector 2 (Sibonga to Dalaguete; Sector 3 (Alcoy to Oslob); Sector 4 (Samboan to Malabuyoc); Sector 5 (Alegria to Alcantara); Sector 6 (Ronda to Barili); and Sector 7 Aloguinsan to Toledo City).

OPAV said that the main goal of this strategy is to achieve herd immunity for Cebu the fastest possible time.
