Chinese President Xi Jinping extended a congratulatory message to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday, emphasizing the need for “stable, healthy, and sustainable” relations between Beijing and Washington. This message marks Xi’s first public communication with Trump since his return to office.

In his statement, Xi stressed that historical patterns show mutual benefit in cooperation between China and the United States, while conflict has proven detrimental. “A stable, healthy, and sustainable China-U.S. relationship is in the common interest of both countries and aligns with international expectations,” Xi said, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Xi expressed hope for a new era in bilateral relations built on “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.” He called on both nations to enhance dialogue, effectively manage differences, and seek ways to collaborate that will benefit not only their citizens but the global community.
