All 77 online voting posts for overseas Filipinos have officially opened for the 2025 midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Monday.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia confirmed that the final site, the Philippine Consulate in Honolulu, activated its Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) at 2 a.m. Philippine time (8 a.m. in Honolulu), marking the full operational status of all designated posts abroad.
In addition to the OVCS sites, 16 other locations using Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) also began their voting procedures successfully. With this, all 93 overseas posts under Comelec have started accepting votes for their respective jurisdictions.
The month-long overseas voting period began on Sunday, April 13, with the Wellington Philippine Embassy in New Zealand leading the rollout. The voting window will remain open until 7 p.m. on May 12, aligning with the closing of polls in the Philippines.
As of early Monday, Comelec recorded 54,575 overseas voters enrolled for this year’s polls, from a total of over 1.23 million registered Filipinos abroad.
This year marks the first large-scale implementation of online voting for Filipinos overseas, a milestone in electoral modernization.
