Vice President Sara Duterte called on Catholics to draw inspiration from Jesus Christ’s love and sacrifice during this year’s Holy Week, urging them to deepen their faith and uplift communities.

In a video message shared Monday, Duterte emphasized Holy Week as a time to reflect on Christ’s selfless act of saving humanity. She encouraged Filipinos to let His sacrifice guide them, especially during moments of weakness, despair, or emotional struggle.

“May the sacrifice of Jesus serve as our light,” she said. “Let’s use this time to strengthen our faith, teach and spread His love, and use it to build strong, faith-driven communities.”

Duterte also highlighted Lent as a season of healing and personal transformation. Amid the nation’s ongoing challenges and deepening divisions, she called on Filipinos to return to core values such as compassion, faith, and unity.

Holy Week, she said, is not just about religious reflection, but a call to action to live by the love and service that Jesus exemplified.
