Central Visayas COVID-19 cases is now declining especially in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, but cases still remain high.

Department of Health-7 assistant regional director Guy Perez said that in the past weeks, they have notice that cases were high but recently cases were already declining.

But despite of the declining cases, Perez still asked the Cebuanos not to let their guards down. 

As of September 2, 2021, DOH-7 COVID-19 case bulletin shows that Central Visayas has a total of 118,250 cases with a total recoveries of 99,319 and 3,879 deaths. It has 15,052 actives cases and 784 new cases. 

Cebu City Emergency Operations Center chief implementer and Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera also said that in the past two weeks, their active cases is declining. 

Garganera said that their daily cases have lowered from an average of 300 plus to 100 plus cases lately. 

He added that the average daily deaths has gone down to 6 cases from 12 to 14 cases. 

Cebu City as of September 2, 2021 has a total of 38,088 cases with 33,047  recoveries and 1,193 deaths. It has an active cases of 3,848 with 141 new cases.
