Legazpi City—The Center for Health and Development-Department of Health in Bicol reported 25 new deaths in Bicol region due to coronavirus here.     
   
In the latest report released by the Center for Health and Development-Department of Health in Bicol region on January 4, this year the Naga City posted 25 number of deaths due to Covid-19.

From March 27, 2020 to January 4, 2022, the DOH Bicol recorded 46,966 cumulative cases with 1,963 active cases and 1,998 deaths.     

     As of today, the DOH Bicol also reported 98 cases of Covid-19.

The province of Camarines Sur has the highest cases with 62, followed by Albay with 20, Sorsogon,10, Camarines Norte and Catanduanes with 3 cases each while Masbate is zero.     

    Ernie Vera, DOH regional director, said that the fight against COVID-19 rests primarily in each individual action as everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from contracting the virus.    

      Earlier, Mayor Noel Rosal in Legazpi City issued a new guideline to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the region’s capital as the melting pot of the region.

 The Bicol Medical Center,Department of Psychiatry in Naga City also locked down for a week here after eight out of ten patients tested positive with Covid-19.

 The DOH Bicol reported that the Bicol Medical Center conducted a random RT-PCR (Reverse TranscriptionPolymerase Chain Reaction) testing on ten custodial patients in the BMC -Department of Psychiatry in Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur.  

       Out of ten patients, eight tested positive to COVID-19. All of the eight patients are asymptomatic and are now placed in isolation.

However, one more patient from the Acute Crisis Intervention Service (ACIS) tested positive and was immediately transferred to the BMC Covid ward in Naga City.

Due to this, the BMC -Department of Psychiatry, formerly known as the Don Suzano Rodriguez Memorial Mental Hospital, will be placed under total lockdown until next Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the Department of Health in Bicol said.   

      Similarly, the Out-Patient Services of the department is temporarily suspended for one week.    
 
    “We advise patients or families who willneed psychiatric help and follow-up check-up to coordinate with your municipal health officers,”.   
    The Philippines on Wednesday posted 10,775 new COVID-19 cases, nearly double from the previous day based on the data from the Department of Health as the omicron variant has presumably spreadin communities.

The Philippines’s cumulativetotal of COVID-19 cases climbed to 2,871,745, of which 39,974 or 1.4 percentare active infections, based on the latest case bulletin. (Raydes Barcia)
