The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is reviewing the possible termination of the contract for the long-delayed Unified Grand Central Station in Quezon City’s North EDSA, according to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.

Originally set for completion in 2021, the station aims to connect Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1), Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3), and Metro Rail Transit-7 (MRT-7). However, a recent inspection revealed an unfinished structure left idle and gathering dust.

Dizon expressed frustration over the stagnation, stating, “Nakakalungkot at nakaka-frustrate. Nakikita mo, andito na siya, nakatengga lang, walang mangyayari.” (It’s saddening and frustrating. You can see that nothing is happening with this.)

The project was awarded in 2019 to BF Corporation, founded by the late former MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando. While pandemic-related restrictions slowed progress, further delays have pushed the estimated completion to 2028 if work resumes.

Meanwhile, the DOTr assured the public that the EDSA Busway will remain operational despite upcoming rehabilitation efforts on EDSA in preparation for the ASEAN Summit 2026.

Dizon also addressed a proposal to allow the Philippine National Police (PNP) emergency access to the busway, stating that discussions are needed but reiterating that no additional exemptions should be made beyond those already granted.
