A dredging vessel has run aground on the Bocao River in Botolan, Zambales, following severe weather conditions caused by tropical cyclone Carina.
According to a report by “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday, the incident occurred on Thursday with four crew members on board. This marks the fourth non-propelled vessel to run aground in the province due to the cyclone since Wednesday, as reported by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Zambales.
The PCG noted that warnings were issued for vessels to move to safer areas before the cyclone hit, but these warnings were not heeded. Despite the incidents, all 20 seafarers from the four vessels have been successfully rescued.
