Legazpi City— The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol earmarked P47,707,000.00 educational cash assistance benefiting 15,856 poor students across the region.
Marygizelle Mesa, DSWD regional spokesperson said that since August 20 to September 3, 2022 the social welfare department provided P47.7 million for close to 16,000 students who availed the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) educational cash assistance.
“Based on our record, there are 5,935 students who have received financial assistance worth P18,390,000.00 last August 27 and on September 3, our office provided P19,660,000.00 educational cash assistance benfiting 6,508 students,” she said.
As of September 10, 2022, the DSWD in Bicol targeted at least 8,118 beneficiaries of AICS educational assistance.
In Camarines Sur, 2,000; Sorsogon, 1,813; Camarines Norte target beneficiaries are 1,318; Albay;1,228; Masbate, 1,200 and Catandaunes, 559 beneficiaries.
In Albay, the DSWD regional office infused P8.4 million educational assistance covering 2,619 students as of August 20 to September 3, 2022.
Records from the Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office showed that those students benefited from Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) were 392 elementary school students, 593 are junior and senior high school students and 1634 are college and vocational students.
The social welfare department in Bicol designated several areas in Albay for beneficiaries to get the DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
In Legazpi City, the designated area is the Pacific Mall Annex Building, Bitano village and the beneficiaries from Tabaco City are on the 5th floor of the Tabaco City Hall Building.
Only beneficiaries who received text messages from DSWD and advice from their local government units received cash aid.
While the students who will receive their cash grant are the applicants who lined up, sent an email to their office and filled out a link or QR code.
