Local officials said they are targeting to inoculate 5,000 people per day or at least 30,000 a week to achieve herd immunity status by year end.

General Santos City has been tagged by the Department of Health as a high risk area in the Soccsksargen region for having the most COVID-19 infections.

Mayor Ronnel Rivera said that the city’s vaccination rollout would be “on track to achieve our targets and hopefully, we can sustain this.” If they succeed, they would be able to vaccinate 800,000 people or 70 percent of the population by November.
