The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) is set to receive the prestigious National Sports Association (NSA) of the Year award at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night on January 27, 2025.

This recognition comes after GAP’s historic success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Carlos Yulo secured two gold medals in vault and floor exercise—an unprecedented achievement for the Philippines. Yulo not only became the first Filipino male athlete to win Olympic gold but also the first to earn two golds in a single Olympic edition.

A Year to Remember

Under the leadership of GAP President Cynthia Carrion, the organization made remarkable strides in Philippine sports, with other Filipino gymnasts also making their mark:

  • Aleah Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo, and Levi Jung-Ruivivar represented the country in the women’s division of the Paris Games—the first time in 60 years since the Philippines participated in this category.
  • GAP’s efforts extended to global tournaments such as the Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Uzbekistan and the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Qatar, where Yulo added more medals to his collection.

Joining the Elite Ranks

GAP now joins the esteemed ranks of previous NSA of the Year winners, including the Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, and the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines, among others.

This milestone solidifies GAP’s status as a trailblazer in Philippine sports, setting a new standard for excellence.
