A joint investigation team composed of members from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and law-enforcement agencies has reached the crash site of a military helicopter in the remote border region of Agusan del Sur, officials confirmed.

The aircraft—identified as a Super Huey from the Philippine Air Force—went down during a relief mission triggered by the onslaught of Typhoon Tino. Initial reports indicate six personnel were aboard the chopper at the time of the crash.

Scene-of-the-crime operatives and air-force investigators are now surveying the terrain, combing wreckage, documenting evidence and reviewing flight logs to determine the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.

Authorities stressed that no definitive cause has yet been announced. Investigators will examine mechanical failure, weather conditions, possible human error and other contributory factors. The AFP spokesperson said the findings will help guide future operations—especially those involving difficult weather or terrain.
