Following the sudden death of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, her Meteor Garden co-star Jerry Yan posted a heartfelt tribute on Weibo, expressing his deep gratitude and sorrow.
“Thankful for meeting you. In your carefree, childlike years, you always said, treat every day as your last. Have a great time. I hope you walk slowly this time. From now on, in another world, there will be no worries and the years will be peaceful,” Jerry wrote, as translated into English.
Jerry Yan played Dao Ming Si, the leader of the F4 group and the love interest of Barbie’s character Shan Cai in the hit 2001 Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden. The success of the show led to the formation of the popular boy band F4, consisting of Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu.
Tributes have also poured in from other Meteor Garden cast members. Ken Chu and Rainie Yang, who played Barbie’s best friend in the series, shared their own messages mourning the beloved actress.
Barbie Hsu, who became a household name across Asia for her role in Meteor Garden, passed away at the age of 48 due to pneumonia. The news was confirmed by her family and agent through South China Morning Post and Focus Taiwan on Monday.
She is survived by her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and her two children from her previous marriage to Wang Xiao Fei, whom she divorced in 2021.
