Despite feeling under the weather, Barangay Ginebra import Justin Brownlee delivered a solid performance to help his team secure a 93-81 victory against the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday.
Brownlee, known for his consistent impact on the court, recorded 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and a steal as Ginebra improved their season record to 5-2.
Battling Through Sickness
Brownlee revealed that he was dealing with flu-like symptoms, which had affected several players during the holiday break.
“Yeah, just a little bit under the weather, I guess maybe a flu-like thing was going around during the holidays. A couple guys on the team caught it as well. Unfortunately for me, I just caught it at the wrong time,” Brownlee shared.
“The trainers and staff have been doing a great job. Hopefully, in the next day or two, it’ll just pass through.”
Credit to San Miguel
Despite the win, Brownlee praised the Beermen for their competitiveness and acknowledged their strong game plan.
“San Miguel is a tough opponent and we knew that coming in. You just got to give a lot of credit to the staff, they had a great game plan. We executed the best way we can. It just seemed like we had all the answers to the test,” Brownlee said.
“We just got to credit that to the coaching staff and the great job they did as far as scouting and giving us the right direction.”
