Kathryn Bernardo has fulfilled her dream of building a grand house for her family, but the actress revealed she’s still adjusting to living in such a large space.
In an interview with TV host Bianca Gonzalez for the TFC show “BRGY,” Bernardo shared her feelings about waking up every day in the home she built for her parents. Joined by her Hello, Love, Again co-star Alden Richards, Bernardo reflected on the journey.
A Promise to Her Parents
“It’s very fulfilling because more than being my dream house, it’s really for my family—my mama and papa,” Bernardo said. “They didn’t ask me to build it, but I promised myself that someday I’d give them their dream home.”
Now residing in the house with her family, Bernardo admitted it still feels surreal. “Every time I go home and wake up, it still feels weird in a way because we’re not used to living in such a big house,” she said with a laugh.
Hard Work and Happiness
Despite the adjustment, Bernardo takes pride in the home and the happiness it brings her parents. She sees the house as a space where their family can gather and bond.
“It took a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears to build that house. It didn’t happen overnight,” she shared. “More than the grandness, we want it to feel like home.”
Building Dreams and Breaking Records
The house construction began in 2020, with Bernardo and her family moving in during late 2023. They celebrated a housewarming event in April 2024.
In addition to her personal achievements, Bernardo’s latest film with Alden Richards, Hello, Love, Again, has been a box-office hit. The movie grossed ₱500 million within five days of its November 13 premiere and earned the 8th spot in the North American box office on November 18 with $2.32 million.
