Kim Atienza, widely known as “Kuya Kim,” has been appointed as GMA Network’s new anti-piracy ambassador. With his extensive background as a host and public figure, Atienza was chosen for his credibility and broad television reach, appearing nightly on the news.
During his oath-taking, Atienza emphasized the harm illegal streaming poses to families and industries. “Illegal streaming sites are very harmful, not just for us but for our children. They threaten our livelihoods in television, film, and music,” he said.
The event was attended by Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) officials, including Director General Atty. Rowel S. Barba and Deputy Director General Atty. Ann Claire C. Cabochan. Other GMA anti-piracy ambassadors include Sparkle stars Barbie Forteza and Ruru Madrid, along with “Voltes V: Legacy” stars Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Matt Lozano, Radson Flores, and Raphael Landicho.
