Police in Koronadal City are actively searching for a woman suspected of abducting a newborn from the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital. The incident occurred after the woman, dressed in a green uniform resembling a nursing attendant’s, volunteered to take the baby for a hearing screening.
Investigators believe she gained the parents’ trust through personal messages on social media, making her request appear genuine. But hours passed without her returning, prompting alarm.
According to hospital officials, the suspect hid the newborn in a bag and slipped out through a less-guarded passageway, avoiding detection by security.
Hospital management is now tightening safety protocols. They reminded visitors that legitimate personnel must always wear identification: nurses in white, nursing attendants in green, and utility workers in blue — all with visible IDs.
Authorities are questioning the suspect to determine her true motive. She may face charges for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
