Heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon, intensified by Typhoon Carina, have triggered multiple landslides and power outages in Baguio City.
As of noon on July 24, 2024, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has reported 12 landslides, four incidents of fallen trees or branches, three clogged drainage systems, and eight electrical issues, including sparking wires and blown transformers.
Authorities are actively coordinating with various agencies to manage the situation and ensure residents’ safety.
Road clearing operations took place at Barangay Camp 7 on Kennon Road around 10 a.m. due to fallen rocks. As of now, Kennon Road remains closed to all vehicles except residents of Camp 7 and Camp 6.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and adhere to safety advisories while traveling in the area. The Baguio City Police Office also urged residents to stay informed through official channels for updates on road conditions and safety measures.
