President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is anticipated to sign the proposed P6.352 trillion national budget for fiscal year 2025 before Christmas, according to Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Mark Leandro Mendoza.

Timeline for Budget Approval

When asked about the expected date for the signing, Mendoza confirmed the timeline.

“Yes, kasama na ‘yung sa budget. Siguro, before Christmas,” Mendoza stated.

A joint technical working group (TWG) has been formed to reconcile differences between the Senate and the House of Representatives’ versions of the proposed budget bill.

The bicameral conference committee, which began deliberations on November 28 at the Sheraton Manila Hotel in Pasay City, will finalize the budget. Once the bicameral report is completed, it will be ratified by both chambers of Congress before being forwarded to Malacañang for the President’s approval.

Key Developments

The 2025 national budget focuses on critical sectors to support the administration’s economic and social development goals. This milestone legislation is expected to prioritize infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social services.
