The Social Security System (SSS) has distributed P32.19 billion in 13th month and December pensions to over 3.6 million pensioners, offering timely financial relief ahead of the holidays and in the wake of recent calamities.
Pre-Christmas Distribution
SSS Officer-in-Charge Voltaire Agas said the pensions were credited starting November 29, serving as a “pre-Christmas gift” to SSS and Employees’ Compensation (EC) pensioners.
“The early crediting of these pensions can help address some of their financial needs as they try to rebuild their lives after a series of calamities struck the country,” Agas said.
Two-Phase Distribution
- First Batch:
- Distributed on November 29
- Amount: P17.9 billion
- Beneficiaries: 2.09 million pensioners with contingency dates between the 1st and 15th of the month.
- Second Batch:

Additionally, pensioners who availed of advance 18-month pensions also received their 13th month benefits on December 4.
Non-PESONet Payments
The SSS disbursed an additional P41.6 million to more than 6,000 pensioners through non-PESONet banks and checks. Agas noted that the Philippine Postal Corporation was tasked with expediting check deliveries to affected pensioners.
Who Qualifies for the 13th Month Pension?
- Retirement and survivor pensioners receive an amount equivalent to their regular monthly pension.
- Pensioners with total disability receive the same amount, excluding medical allowances.
- Dependents of pensioners and partial disability pensioners (with at least 12 months of pension duration) are also eligible.
The SSS initiative underscores its commitment to supporting pensioners during challenging times and ensuring financial assistance is delivered promptly.
